YouTube is preparing to roll out separate tabs for videos, Shorts, and Live streams on all YouTube channels. The update will add new Shorts and Live tabs next to the classic Videos tab, which will remain dedicated to regular long-form content.

If you’re not interested in watching Shorts or live streams on a YouTube channel, you’ll no longer see them in the videos tab. “We’ve heard that this will make it easier for viewers to discover the kinds of content they’re most interested in when exploring a creator’s channel page, so we’re excited to bring this to you all,” the YouTube team explained.

We’re now rolling out a new update that will split your video content into 3 separate tabs!

Earlier this year, YouTube added new filters for accessing Shorts and Live VODs on all channel pages on mobile, but this latest change goes a step further. It may also help to encourage discovery, especially for the TikTok-inspired Shorts format that YouTube has been pushing creators to embrace.

If you enjoy watching Shorts on YouTube, this UI change will also make it easier to continue watching shorts from a specific channel. “When you are watching Shorts in the Shorts feed and navigate to a creator’s channel from the feed, you will be directed right to this new tab to keep enjoying Shorts,” the team explained.

These separate tabs for shorts, live streams, and long-form content start rolling out today and they should appear on all YouTube channels in the coming weeks. YouTube is also in the process of also rolling out a new @handle system that will provide each channel a unique identifier and url on the platform.
